From wrought-iron to sliding door accessories – a few key MANTION dates

1920

Creation of the MANTION company by Mr. Alexandre MANTION in Besançon (25), in France.

1930

At the outset, the company was specialised in manufacturing wrought-iron products.

1935

MANTION developed its business to include the manufacturing of sliding door systems for the farming sector. Soon the company was equipping farm buildings all over France. It also gradually expanded onto the residential building market.

 

In 1935, first price list for roller assemblies was published.

1949

The company becomes SARL Raymond Mantion & fils.

1955

First product patent.

1961

Sportub range created.

1964

The company continues its development and moves to the industrial zone of Trépillot (25) in Besançon, France, which is still its main manufacturing site and headquarters.

1964

Mr. Verheyde becomes chairman and majority shareholder.

1965

Mr Raymond Mantion designs the Tubel range.

1966

First two export customers : Heinr. Betz Söhne in Germany and Redson in Netherlands.

1981

Hercule range created.

1992

Mr. Jean-Pierre Essert appointed chairman.

1993

The company gradually begins its international expansion. Mantion takes over the German company B&K and establishes itself in Heiligenhaus on 3000m2. It becomes Mantion Baubeschläge Gmbh in 2002.

2000

Mr. Denis Schnoebelen appointed chairman.

2001

Mantion acquires bar turning firm Bourquin Décolletage in Ornans (25), in France.

2003

Acquires a majority share of Valcomp in Warsaw, in Poland.

2004

New sheet metal range and new company Formatol.

2005

Mantion Handling System opens in Warsaw, in Poland.

2008

MANTION extended its competencies by acquiring Wimove in Genlis (21), in France, which specialises in motorization for the building sector.

2012

Thanks to a wealth of success, the group was able to expand and renovate its Besançon plant, extending the footprint to over 20,000 m2.

2013 to 2016

Strengthening of the group in export: opening of offices in India in 2013, in Dubai in 2014 and in Singapore and Mumbai in 2015. Then development in North America with the creation of the company Mantion Canada in Quebec in 2016.

2019

Arrival of Mr Martial Devaux as General Manager.

2020

THE GROUP CELEBRATED ITS CENTENARY!

Today, MANTION equates with:

  • 200 highly experienced employees,
  • over 28,000 m² (20,500 m² in Besançon) operating with the latest technologies,
  • and a catalogue offering more than 4,500 product references.

MANTION is the European specialist in roller accessories and rails for doors and handling systems.

January 2022

Mr Denis Schnoebelen hands over the reins of the MANTION Groupe to Mr Martial Devaux, who becomes the new Chairman.

 

Mr. Denis Schnoebelen take a seat on the supervisory board of the parent company MANTION SAS.
